Are you looking for ways to save on everyday bills like cable and internet? Look no further than a bill negotiation service. These services can help negotiate bills on your behalf to help get you the best possible rates. This week, I am covering one of the most popular bill negotiation services – Billshark! This Billshark review will cover how Billshark works, the cost, and how it stacks up against its competitors.
What is Billshark?
Billshark is a bill negotiation service that offers a whole host of tools to help you save! Billshark has been around since 2015, is backed by famed entrepreneur Mark Cuban, and continues to grow its customer base.
Bill negotiation is what made Billshark popular, and they can help negotiate all sorts of bills. Billshark can help you negotiate bills such as:
- Cell Service
- Satellite Radio
- And More!
However, there’s more to Billshark than just bill negotiation. The service can also help cancel unwanted subscriptions! Just send them the subscription you want to be canceled, and they’ll make it happen!
Billshark also aims to help save you on your insurance bills. They offer a simple calculator to see how much you could save on insurance based on your needs.
Of course, bill negotiation is Billshark’s “claim to fame,” and that’s undoubtedly the most useful of the tools they offer.
How Does Billshark Work?
You may be wondering how Billshark works. It’s pretty simple!
Billshark has an app that you can download to your mobile device. Once you download the app, you’ll go ahead and submit any bills you want Billshark to negotiate.
Once you upload a copy of your bill, you’ll need to provide some additional information, such as the name and address on your account.
Then, Billshark will review your information, and over the next few days, they’ll call and negotiate with your provider to get you the best rate.
Most importantly, when Billshark negotiates your bill, they won’t make any changes to your service without your consent, so you won’t have to worry. The service you have is the service you’ll keep.
Additionally, Billshark tracks when negotiated savings expire. So, let’s say they reduced your bill for six months. At that time, they’ll automatically start the negotiation process again. So, rest assured you’re always receiving the lowest rates on your bills!
When it comes to bill negotiation, Billshark boasts a 90% success rate, so chances are, they can find ways to save you money. And the way it works, Billshark only gets paid if they save you money (more on that in a minute)!
Billshark’s subscription cancelation service works very similarly. Just tell them what subscription you want to cancel, and they’ll make it happen!
How Does Billshark Get Paid?
Now, Billshark does come at a cost. Billshark’s fees are structured as a percentage of savings achieved, while their subscription cancelation service comes at a flat price (more on pricing in just a second).
How Much Does Billshark Cost?
Billshark’s negotiation service is structured as a one-time 40% success fee of any savings achieved. So, for example, if Billshark saves you $10 per month for 12 months, they’ve saved you a total of $120. Therefore, you’ll pay Billshark 40% of the savings for a total of $48. While you’ll typically have to pay for these savings as one lump sum, Billshark does offer a payment plan that allows you to pay over time.
Billshark’s subscription cancelation service costs $9 per subscription canceled. So, for example, if you ask Billshark to cancel your cable, it will cost a total of $9.
Typically, most people ask whether they could just call their providers on their own to negotiate their rates with no intermediary and keep 100% of the savings?
Absolutely, you could choose to negotiate your bills yourself. But if you’re anything like me, I’m willing to guess that you won’t take the time to try to negotiate the best rates on your bills.
You’ll also want to consider how much your time is worth. If you call your cell phone provider, for example, and it takes an hour on the phone to negotiate a better rate, was your time worth the savings you’d receive relative to paying a provider like Billshark?
For me, the answer is no. I view any savings on these services as money I wouldn’t have received otherwise, so I am happy to pay a bill negotiation service for their efforts. However, maybe to you, it’s worth dealing with on your own. The choice is yours!
Billshark Customer Support
When searching for a bill negotiation service, you may want to look into the types of customer support they offer.
Whether it’s just checking up on the status of your negotiation or handling an issue, it’s nice to be able to get a hold of someone.
Customer service is an area where Billshark excels. They offer both phone and email support, making them one of the only services to provide regular support by phone.
While customer service is essential, you’ll also want to know if your data is secure.
Is Billshark Safe?
Good news when it comes to data security. Billshark uses bank-level 256-bit encryption to keep any data you provide safe.
I encourage you to read Billshark’s security policies if you want to learn more.
Additionally, Billshark maintains an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau and an average customer review on BBB of 4.5 stars.
While the company is the first to admit they’re not perfect and that mistakes do happen, the company seems highly responsive to customer needs and will do everything they can to make things right.
This Billshark review wouldn’t be complete if we didn’t cover Billshark’s main competitors. Notably, several bill negotiation services have come onto the scene in the last few years. Before deciding to go with Billshark, you may want to consider some of the other options.
Billshark vs. Trim
Billshark’s biggest competitor is likely Trim. Trim is one of the most well-known bill negotiation services.
The number one area where Trim excels is that they charge a lower rate on bill negotiation savings. Currently, Trim charges 33% of what they save you, whereas Billshark charges 40%.
Notably, Trim also offers some additional features that Billshark does not provide, such as a high-yield savings account, a debt payoff plan, etc.
However, there are also some areas that Trim falls short relative to Billshark. Billshark allows you to negotiate a greater variety of bills such as satellite radio, and Billshark offers telephone support.
Trim uses a web interface, whereas Billshark has a full-featured app. Additionally, while Trim can cancel subscriptions, this service is only offered as part of a premium subscription. In contrast, Billshark provides this service on a standalone basis for a low flat fee of $9.
If you want the cheapest negotiation on your cable, internet, and cell phone bill, go with Trim. But, if you are interested in bill cancelation or negotiating services like satellite radio, go with Billshark.

Billshark vs. Truebill
Another service worth checking out is Truebill. Truebill is my favorite bill negotiation service. Why? Truebill offers a host of unique features including:
- Outage Monitoring
- Subscription Monitoring
- Overdraft and Late Fee Negotiations
Truebill charges the same flat 40% rate for bill negotiation as Billshark, though Truebill also offers a premium subscription service.
Admittedly, Billshark and Truebill are very similar, though I believe Truebill is more full-featured, and I have had tremendous success using them to lower my bills (they’ve now saved me over $1,000 as of the time of this writing).

Truebill is a bill negotiation service that will help negotiate your regular bills, track your subscriptions, and help you save. You only pay when Truebill saves you money, so you have nothing to lose. Check out our review to learn more!
Billshark Review: Is Billshark Worth It?
If you haven’t tried a bill negotiation service, you’re almost sure to be throwing money away.
Now, if you’re trying to save every penny possible, you may want to consider negotiating your bills yourself. But, if you think your time is more valuable than hours on the phone, hand things over to a bill negotiation service and wait for the savings to roll in.
Wrapping up this Billshark review, do I think Billshark is the best bill negotiation service? I think Billshark offers some unique features, such as subscription cancellation and phone support. Trim and Truebill excel in other areas, but overall, I think Billshark is worth trying out.
