About Connor Brown
Hey there! My name is Connor Brown. I am a passionate 20-something personal finance guru that loves talking about all things money, and I have been featured by U.S. News & World Report, Bankrate, CreditCards.com, Fox Business, Making Sense of Cents, and Real Simple. After School Finance was created to help you learn the personal finance lessons that I had to learn the hard way.
When I was in college, I studied finance, and I took a job out of school at a boutique investment bank. Despite excelling in my work, I found that the finance skills I used at work weren’t being applied in my own life.
I found myself living beyond my means and with a great deal to learn about how to manage money for myself. Every month, I would get my bills and be surprised by how much I had spent. I was spending more than I earned and I was failing to set aside enough for my financial goals.
After a year or two of feeling defeated with my finances, I decided something needed to be done. Once I decided I needed to make a change, I went on a crusade to learn as much about personal finance as I possibly could.
I spent countless hours reading and educating myself, as well as thinking about how I could apply finance skills from my professional life to my personal life. While it took some time, after a year or two of dedicated effort, I got a really firm grasp on all aspects of personal finance – budgeting, investing, debt, you name it.
Now that I have my own finances under control, I want to share with you everything I’ve learned along the way so that you can make positive choices about your own finances – without having to learn the way I did. I launched After School Finance in 2020 to do exactly that. Think of this site as your guide to everything you need to know to be successful in your financial life.
If you’re ready to get started on the journey to building wealth, let’s go! I am so glad you’re here!
